Product input requirements and functional
specification
|
The first phase in new product design & development process is a
comprehensive orientation session that will allow us to create
a Product Specification document. The Product Specification document is a useful tool for defining and specifying project goals and objectives, prior to entering the conceptual development phase.
 |
Conceptual development |
Using the Product Specification Document as a guideline, our designers will generate line and thumbnail drawings
that explore the options for product features, human interface
issues, packaging, power requirements, aesthetics, ergonomics,
cost, and manufacturability approaches on a given project.
 |
Project planning and
scheduling |
Establishing the product development framework is a collaborative partnership with each of our customers. We’ll work closely with you to create a realistic project plan and commonly use Microsoft® Project to define and manage specific activities, as well as three key project constraints: Cost, Schedule, and Performance.
 |
Product
prototyping |
Our
shop will create working prototypes that exhibit all key
functional requirement of the product. If feasible, a full-scale
mockup of the chosen design will be constructed, which will represent actual size and proportions of the proposed design.
This prototype will serve to assist further in the study discussions and
decision-making.
During the development of your product, our PCB designers will work closely with the electrical engineers and mechanical engineers to ensure that the placement of parts meets both circuit and mechanical architecture needs. Rapid Prototyping /Quick turn boards validate your circuit design. We also work closely with manufacturers so that we can provide a PCB design that supports efficient assembly and testing with high yields during production.

Analog and Digital
design |
Pickard Systems' analog and digital design skills are at the core of nearly every one of our projects. From interfacing to the physical world, to processing the data in microcontrollers,
we design circuits and software to solve the problem in a cost-effective manner.
 |
Custom hardware and software
design
|
Pickard Systems offers assistance to its clients in the final process of bringing the engineered product to production by serving as a vendor liaison.
we can interface with potential vendors and oversee the transition to the initial production of parts and assemblies.
 |
Engineering documentation
and operator's manuals
|
Our experience with patent
application and operators manual creation can be utilized whether
we designed your product or not. We produce appealing and
easy-to-understand operators manuals that ensure your customer
complete satisfaction with your product.

Regulatory agency
consultation
|
Pickard Systems offers assistance to its clients in the process of
reviewing and meeting the requirements of world-wide regulatory
agencies such as Underwriters Labs (UL), Canadian Standards
Association (CSA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and
European Community (CE) marking. bringing the engineered product to production by serving as a vendor liaison.
